My roofer says drip edge is not needed in the deep south (AL). Is this correct?


FIND A NEW ROOFER!!! OR REPAIR YOUR ROOF EVERY 5 - 7 YEARS. WITHOUT THE DRIP EDGE OVER TIME RAIN WILL, NOT MAY, WILL FIND ITS WAY UNDER YOUR SHINGLES AND UNDERLAYMENT & INTO YOUR LIVING ROOM.

The whole point of drip edge is to keep water from seeping back onto the main plywood of the roof. It depends on your roof style and if you already have a water barrier in place. otherwise you absolutely need it if you don't want to redo your roof due to water damage. If your worried about water over shooting the gutter then you should move the gutter out more or obtain a wider gutter system.
