Is a remote control available for the hot water recirculating pump & what is the cost?

The settings on the pump timer are 'ON' for continuous recirculating--gives the most convenience but wastes the most energy between the pump and your water tank; 'OFF' for shutting off the recirculation for extended periods like going on vacation; and 'TIMER'. In TIMER mode you have the 24 hr. day broken into 15 minute segments that you can individually set to ON or OFF to match your daily schedule. Some (lucky) people have no set schedule and would like a bit more dynamic control over when it runs or others want to have a separate schedule for weekdays and a different one for weekends. The way they are doing that is to set the recirculating pump to the 'ON' setting and controlling it from the outlet by various other means. I've heard that some have switched to an external timer that lets them set one schedule for weekdays and a separate one for weekends. Others, myself included, have the pump controlled through our home automation system so that the system can trigger it by both time schedules and/or events like turning on the bathroom or kitchen lights triggers the pump outlet to come on for 15 minutes. The downside of event triggers is that the pump usually needs to run for several minutes before you should use the tap so that it has a chance to recirculate the water. There are a number of brands/protocols that can be used for this capability-X10, Insteon, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Smart Things, etc.

There is no custom remote control, however you can get an AC outlet or adapter with a radio remote control for about twenty bucks. Then you plug the pump into it and turn it on and off with a fob.

There is no item that is sold as a direct remote for this but a home automation system could work or a plug in remote with a wireless remote control for Christmas lights would work. The unit draws 1W of electricity. So think of it as 1/7 the amount of electricity used to run a 7 watt night light.
