What if I have PEX piping to the shower I want to install the recirculating system to?

I don't know if you still need an answer, but here's mine anyway.... You can install the pump on your water heater (hot side) regardless of what type of material you pipes are. I have a combination of copper and PEX in my home and have not had any issues. It is very important to install the recirculation valve under a sink as far away from the pump as possible in order to get any benefit from pump. My kitchen sink used to take 3-4 minutes to get hot, now it takes about 30 seconds. I hope this helps.

Using a water recirculator and PEX piping depends on how your piping was installed. There are 3 installation types for PEX which are Home-run which is the most typical, Trunk-and-branch and Remote manifold which is a combination of the first 2. It will work for any configuration but something to keep in mind is that with a Home-run system you will only be able to connect one line to it. Your shower will get hot water faster but no other fixture will.

No problem, this will work with pex, copper, or galvanized pipe.
