How fire resistant is Trex?


Trex does 3rd party testing by accredited laboratories. We do not test for flame resistance. We test for Flame Spread Rate. The ASTM E84 "Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials" which is the Standard test procedure to measure flame spread. These flame spread ratings are: Class A -Fire exists, interior finishes 0-25 Class B -Walls and ceilings of small rooms 26-75 Class C -Finish materials in large capacity rooms (over 300 people) 76-200 Transcend decking has a Class B flame spread rating. Check with your local building code for jurisdictional specifications. If you are asking because you want to use a fire pit or fire place on your deck, please let us know.
