Does the clam shell get really hot in the sun

Hello, and thank you for your interest in Trex! In the hot days of summer any of our decking colors can get uncomfortably hot to walk on just like any surface (this includes wood, concrete, sand, etc.) In comparison to wood decking we have found there to be no significant difference in heat retention between the two. In our many studies, we have found the color of the board to be the most significant factor in heat retention. In these studies, pressure treated wood stained the same color as Trex was actually slightly hotter than Trex in the same test conditions. With that said for less heat retention Trex recommends choosing lighter colors. Trex also recommends to wear shoes on hot days. Thanks, Tori - Trex Customer Care Team
