how does this decking hold up to dog nails?

TimberTech AZEK decking materials, including the Harvest Collection, have a top capping layer that is harder than the core of the deck board that makes it more resistant to scratching. That said TimberTech decks are scratch resistant, not scratch proof, so we can’t guarantee that you will never scratch a TimberTech deck. It is not typical for dog claws to scratch and remove material from the decking, but it is more likely that with heavy use, dog claws can mar the surface, or flatten some of the texture on the deck surface, causing a change of the appearance of the gloss. The change in appearance can often be addressed by using a deck scrub brush, without any cleaner, to blend the texture of the board.
