TimberTech Prime+ 1-in x 6-in x 12-ft Sea Salt Grey Grooved/Scalloped Composite Deck Board
Mold & Rot Resistance I understand that the plastic doesn't fully encapsulate the wood in all respects. Therefore, do you use a natural Zinc Borate product to more fully protect the recycled wood flour component in your composite products? Thanks.

Hi Paul! That's a great question! When it comes to our TimberTech composite decking, we focus on protecting the recycled wood flour in our boards with advanced technology rather than using natural additives like Zinc Borate. Our composite boards are made from a blend of high-performance polymers and reclaimed wood fibers, and we surround them with a proprietary polymer cap on 3 sides. This cap acts as a powerful barrier against moisture, which is the main culprit behind mold, mildew, and rot. Instead of relying on chemical treatments, our approach is to physically lock out moisture and lock in long-lasting color and durability. Some of our collections also feature additional mold guard technology for even more protection. The result is a deck that’s built to last, easy to maintain, and resistant to the elements - without the need for annual sealing or staining. I do hope this helps!
