QUIKRETE® Zip & Mix - FastSet™ Repair Mortar (No. 1241-15) may be suitable if the repairs are being made to sound, clean, and unsealed/uncoated concrete bricks. If the repairs are masonry mortar repairs, such as repointing the mortar between the bricks or resetting the bricks into place, then QUIKRETE® Zip & Mix - FastSet™ Repair Mortar (No. 1241-15) should not be used due to the high strength characteristics of the product. For masonry mortar repairs, unless you know the type of the mortar that is currently in place for your brick foundation, you may opt for a Type N mortar, such as the QUIKRETE® Mortar Mix Type N (No. 1102). Typically it is preferable for the mortar being used for repointing or resetting bricks back into place to NOT be stronger than the original mortar. If it is stronger, any settling of the structure will potentially cause the bricks or the existing mortar, rather than the tuckpointing mortar or new mortar for resetting bricks into place, to crack. QUIKRETE® Zip & Mix - FastSet™ Repair Mortar (No. 1241-15) would not be recommend to parge over the wall to make it smooth. You may to consider using QUIKWALL® Surface Bonding Cement (No. 1230-1231) to coat the wall and make it smooth.
