Is this usable with an aquaponics pump as I do not have a water hose in the area. And if so, what is the recommended criteria?


You can, but there's a huge initial and reoccurring cost in setting a filtration system to clean the pond water. You must remove particulates down to 5 microns or better and a calcium removal filter. It would probably be cheaper if you bought a bunch of garden hoses and a simple calcium filter. But only if well or house water is available and reasonably close.
