You need the pump. Same thing happened to me. I bought one last summer, used it 2-3 times to spray weeds with 30% vinegar diluted by half and stored it empty in garage. This summer it dosn't pump. I didn't expect a throw away tem "under $20". My opinion youre throwing away your money buying this.

Buy a new sprayer ,it's cheaper and now all new parts.Under $20.
