Can metal fencing be attached to these columns, for pool fencing?

It would be tricky to get a good tight fit up against the rocky foam face of this product. And I'm not sure it would pass inspection by doing this, but I suppose you could figure out some sort of loop that would get screwed into the post thru the foam and then catch the chain link into that much like those little cable tack things that cable guys or electricians use outside your home. Then you could go back and put some touch up paint to hide them.
