What do the red numbers on the bottom of the tape measure represent ?

The red numbers represent the midpoint. This tape is designed to make hanging pictures and any thing that must be centered a simple no guessing task. For example say you need to center a drawer pull on a drawer face that is 8-3/4in wide under the 8-3/4 mark it says 4-3/8, the 4-3/8 point is where the midpoint is and the hole needs to be drilled.
