To activate the spray wand, you must twist the handle away from you. To control the water flow, you must twist the handle away from you to increase the flow and toward you to decrease the flow. To adjust the spray wand position, you must push the handle down until the desired position is found. To turn the spray wand off, you must twist the handle toward you until it stops. hahaha, you're right, it's a puzzle. Keep toilet paper handy just incase. Here's what I found on a better listing for this product. Hope it helps. Twisting the lever (left / right) increases or decreases water flow and pushing down on the lever transitions spray from anterior to posterior cleaning.
