Will a regular Ethernet crimping tool work with the Ideal plugs ?


Older tools set up with dies for Category 5 will produce bad results. Some category 5e dies may work. Ethernet AWG standards apply Category 6.

If you are referring to a standard "Amp" (blue-handle) tool with a die set up for category 5 ( not 5e ), the answer is "Not very well". Wrong AWG.

A standard RJ-45 crimp tool would crimp the plug but would not trim off the conductors flush with the end of the plug on these feed-thru style connectors. Please use the 30-495 crimp tool made for these plugs it can work with feed-thru and standard plugs. Tool should be in the store Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
