will need a special texture roller to paint with this

Hi there - Having just completed a project using this, I can say that a special roller is not needed, but the nap you buy will determine the overall texture of the end result. For example I rolled my first ceiling with a thick nap roller, the same they use to paint stucco, the end result was a very textured surface that hid a lot of imperfections. The second ceiling I painted, trying to minimize the splatter, I used the 6" Whizz roller for Ceilings. While the roller did add a little bit of the texture, most of it was left in the pan. I had to go over it 2x. So while the mess was less, the work was twice as much to even get close to the texture of the first thick roller. Hope this helps.

Frankly, and from my own personal experience with this product, I would suggest you choose a different method altogether. I don't recommend this product at all! It's horrible stuff. I'm surprised that Lowe's still stocks this garbage. Inconsistent coverage and causes you to use a great deal more paint then you would have normally used. But yes, you will need a specific knap to complete use this garbage product and unless I knew exactly what you are putting this one and what texture you are after it would be impossible for me to say exactly what knap to use. If I remember they suggest specific knaps on the package.
