My front door faces west, will the sun effect the camera? How?

Don't risk it. This thing runs HOT all on its own. Ours maintains a surface temp of 120+ degrees even in the dark of night. Many people are reporting overheating problems including shutdowns and worse. The manufacturer is apparently incapable or just unwilling to address the problem. Check out the number of unresolved complaints on various forums.
Was this Answer Helpful ?My doorbell is on a wall facing west but front porch area is covered overhead. It is in direct sunlight from late afternoon till sunset. I havent had any issues at all other than a little glare at thst time of the day; however I’m in Southern California and it doesnt get that hot here. If you lived somewhere really hot and it was exposed all day then I might worry.
Was this Answer Helpful ?We don't recommend any of our products be out in direct sunlight for an extended time during the day. If it's only in direct sunlight for a short time, this should be fine, otherwise you may see reduced functionality if the temperature goes above the rated temperature range.
