Yes

Magnet(small unit) must line up with large unit .I would try to set alarm and open window until alarm goes off then close window enough so alarm stops. Window will be open enough so some air can come into home.

Yes it will go off if the window is opened any farther than what you had it set at

No bc the two components would no longer be aligned and the alarm would not be 'armed'. It may work if your window is open barely, like less than half an inch and you were able to install the two pieces barely offset to allow this...but that would be a bit of a rig. I'm sure there are better solutions for your needs.

It’s going to depend on the placement of the magnet. The sensor and the magnet cannot be separated by more than ½ inch so depending where the magnet is will depend if the alarm sounds. You can use two magnets so that way the alarm stays on no matter if the window is opened or closed. Jasco Products Tech Suport(Manufacturer)

The sensor will go off in alarm mode as along as the magnets in the pieces are not next to each other. If you have your window partialy open you will have to install it in such a way that it will not go off when you have the window open but will if someone opens the window further. In chime mode it will only chime once when the connection between the pieces is broken. You may want a motion sensing product instead of the alarm. That way it will go off if someone tries to open the window.
