does this device work if the wondows are opened by someone unlocking them and raising them or do they work if the glass is broken as well.

There are two pieces to the alarm, and when they are a certain length apart (I think more than a centimeter? I don't remember exactly), the alarm sounds. It will definitely sound if the window is opened because it is impossible to open the window without separating the pieces. If the glass is broken, however, it would depend if they break the part of the glass that had the piece.

only if the seal between the alarm and the magnet are broken i.e. the window being raised. now if the criminals are dumb enough the break the glass you should be able to hear the glass breaking and especially if they break the glass and then proceed to open the window then you will hear the glass breaking and the alarm going off.
