Do I need to buy anything more to install this on top of my deck boards into underlying 2x8 supports using lag screws?


Deckguy, Yes — you will need to purchase the deck mount kit in addition to the 4-in x 4-in black steel deck post. The post itself does not include the mounting plates or hardware needed to secure it through the deck boards into the 2×8 supports. The required kit is Lowe’s Item #2573336 (Model #215037), which provides the base plate and hardware for proper installation.
