What kind of cedar is this (western red cedar, etc)?

This is Himiko Cedar. It is imported from Japan. It has a lighter color with more variations. I believe strength and aging are equal to Western Red Cedar. I use it a lot in small projects like planter boxes. It is a great product. The price on it has gone up. Just a few weeks ago, it was below $3.00 a board. š

Was this Answer Helpful ?Definitely Chinese cedar, thus the cheap price compared to western, much much cheaper, the smell is completely different from western, smell the two types and you will see. it does have a higher hardness than western, but not sure how it holds up compared to western outside.
