Hi! The GLL1P uses Alkaline batteries like AAA batteries. The battery life will depend on how long and how frequent you will be using the laser. We recommend removing the batteries from the tool when not using it for extended periods. When storing for extended periods, the batteries can corrode and discharge themselves.
