Is the moss on these bonsai real (live) or fake?

It's fake and full of chemicals. Remove it from the pot it comes in immediately, get as much of the soil out of the roots as possible, cut away any dead roots/branches. re-pot in slightly larger pot in new soil. :Leave it alone and it'll flourish!
