Yes it will make a zapping noise when a large bug get's in there but not with gnats or mosquitos.

Was this Answer Helpful ?The light is very low during the day. I hardly hear any sound at all and yet there were a ton of mosquitoes and quite a few moths. Did not notice flies.

Was this Answer Helpful ?Most of the time no sound from bugs being zapped. When I tap the sides to knock some of the dead bugs out I get the zapping noise, but that is about the only time I've heard it.
