Reinforce and attach wood joints with mending plates. These metal plates protect wood pieces at their joints to prevent the wood from faltering over time. Mending plates can also be applied to current wood frames and joints to give them additional support. Choose pronged mending plates and you can hammer them into wood without using any nails.
For long-term protection of utility lines, pick up some nail plates to avoid potential damage. A nail plate keeps users from hammering nails into the area in wood framing where utilities run through, thus protecting cables, wires or tubing from costly accidents.
You'll need bearing plates to safely stabilize anchors or bolts as they bond support structures to concrete or other hard materials. These plates allow even load distribution so problems don't occur, such as the weight shifting out of place. Consider plates with slotted holes so they can easily work with off-center fasteners. Learn about other hardware connectors that can help reinforce structures by reading our Construction Hardware Glossary.
