Had to return to vendor
Box appeared to have been delivered by a train wreck. Upon opening the box, there was a large crack in the cabinet, between the display and the lid. Support at local Lowe's was a wait on hold so I could be told to call someone else. Returned unit to Lowe's.
Faulty By-pass Valve
I just bought a Whirlpool Pro Water Softener Model WHES487 and found out I had a faulty By-pass Valve which apparently Whirlpool is fully aware of! When trying to connect it, it blew apart causing water to go everywhere! Thinking it was not put together right, we tried it again, and same thing happened. The by pass C clip does not snap in place, which causes this issue. Buyer beware!! Contact the warrant company and demand they send you a knew By pass valve!

This doesn't come with a manual. Had to go to Whirlpool website to download and print it. A real pain. Just installed, will come back and update after a bit.

Exceptional Water Softner.
I purchased this Whirlpool to replace my 21 year old Kenmore which was made by Whirlpool. It has slightly larger capacity às our water supply has became much harder. The WHES48 PRO is do much quieter and much more efficient. Our water has never felt better. My only complaint is that the LCD Display is not back lit. Very difficult to read where it is located.

Easy set up
Bought two weeks ago simple install as replaced a similar whirlpool unit that was around 10years old as the controls head failed. Replaced it with the pro model with more capacity as on well water. Unit working fine so far and fairly easy on salt. Use the five in one salt as helps keep the the resin bed clean but will still do the cleaner treatment on regular basis for the extra preventative maintenance it provides.

Terrible product, avoid completely
This is our 3rd whirlpool softner, our last one was 15 yrs old this 3rd replacement is 14 months old and the one before that lasted 11 months and the one before that needed the whole top assembly replaced in first 90 days and then the tank blew like all the rest. Everything is made of plastic including the gears they strip and must be replaced shortly after purchase. The by pass valve slips even the replacement slips out of position. Broken upon delivery
Came broken upon delivery and Lowe’s would not take it back unless I drove it to the store which was not an option for me. Had to keep the broken unit. Poor customer service.
