What sets it apart is that its flowers sometimes sport a lilac flare, a lilac petal or on some older established plants solid yellow or lilac blooms. The variety should have been named Surprise as the variation of color on the peony will vary over time. As a hybrid it combines the best qualities of its parental varieties.
