This paint is awful. Especially using it on an existing door. Obviously you can't shut the door tight until it dries and after three coats over essentially the same (more or less) color, the few primed spots are showing through like a spotlight. (White primer) I sued this stuff on my shutters which I sprayed and after a bunch of coats it covered nicely. That is the only way I would use this stuff. On a door you need to close? Never again. I am on coat 3 and this red looks like a candy ap...

Repurchase? Not sure.
3 years in and peeling badly. I followed the instructions to a T. it does take a tedious amount of time to get it to look good but once you have enough coats on it it does. Our problem is this was used for trim around the outside of my front door. We have a large overhang and it is in weather but it is supposed to be OK for out of door usage. It's peeling away...

Good, not for beginners
It's a good paint but you should have experience with oils before using. I used a classic red on previously white interior doors. They were painted in oil and had no damage so I roughed up with a orbital sander and rolled on with a foam roller. You have to be patient going over lighter colors, it took 4 coats. I found the thinner you make the coats, the better. And apply very little pressure to the roller to avoid edge bulges or row marks, I used a 6" mini roller. If you go on too thick the solv...

So difficult
We had this recommended for our door with a deep red color. It was transparent almost and took two weekends and many, many, many coats for a single side. And it bubbled (I was not laying it on thick at all, had roller and cut in with brush) after it dried. And if you lightly scraped a raised bubble, it would chip as white under even with the 500 coats. The door was ready to paint from factory. Maybe bc it was fiberglass? Terrible experience and wondering what world these reviewers are livi...

Like painting with milk
If you really like painting the same thing over and over and over and over, this is the perfect paint for you. Its like painting with watered down skim milk. Thee coats later, my stair risers still show the scuff marks I was painting over. I'm going to do one more coat and call it quits, with a 12 hour re-coat time I'm going on day four of painting my stairs. It also goes on with small bubbles because it is so watery.

Works Great!
I needed to repaint my front and side doors. The front faded from burgundy to brown so my local Lowes recommended the Valspar door and trim that was fade resistant and cleans up with soap and water. I used a brush and mini roller with 3/8 nap. I cut in the edges of the 6 panel door and used a mini roller with a 3/8 nap on the flat surfaces. Both doors took 2 coats and they look great!

Recoat time is 8-12 hours
Interesting this site says recoat in four hours. That would’ve been great. Can says 8-12 hours. Used on a white pre primed door. Two coats of black needed, rolled on fairly well. Would not brush out. Very strong smelling.

Beautiful results
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been months since we used the oil enriched enamel paint on our garden shed's door and windows. It still looks perfect! It was easy to apply, we did 2 coats. The biggest issue was deciding on which color because of the variety of choices offered. So it has passed the sunlight test without any issues! Now comes the snow!

10 Plus
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Valspar Door & Trim Oil Enriched Enamel last week. The semi-gloss gives a natural look. I love that you can wash it when something gets on it. One coat as enough for my trim on my wood doors and trim. The consistency of this is just right and goes on smooth. Extremely happy with this and will get more to finish off more projects that need to get done.
