What Customers Are Saying
The paint has mixed reviews. Many customers found it easy to apply with good coverage and a smooth, attractive finish, suitable for refreshing cabinets, furniture, and other surfaces. However, some reported issues with poor coverage, dripping, long drying times, and lack of durability, requiring multiple coats. The results seem to depend on the specific project and application method used, so careful preparation and following instructions closely are important for achieving the best results.

The wife and I did a good amount of research, looking at DIY sites, Bob Vila, and pro painters, before making the decision to go with Valspars furniture and cabinet paint. We have so far used this paint on our entire kitchen cabinetry, an electric fireplace, and multiple tables, as you will see. The process of using this paint is NOT quick if you want perfect results. For one, I use a TSP surface prep on every surface prior to paint. If you don't know what this is, I suggest you look it up. ...

So thin it's like painting with water colors
Purchased this paint after going through a lot of reviews and deciding the positive reviews outweighed the negative. Unfortunately, my experience with this paint has been on the negative side. First, let's take the claims made by the manufacturer: no sanding or priming needed, no brushmarks, and provides a factory-like finish. Considering I was painting over dark-stained real wood cabinets, I decided to first clean the cabinets with a TSP-substitute degreaser, then I sanded with 120 grit pow...
Best paint for cabinets
I’m an artist. One day I decided to blotch paint my kitchen wall. I found this product on a clearance rack where I bought acrylic paints where people returned samples they were unhappy with…. and that’s when I came across this #740158 enamel product. It leaves no brush strokes!! I thought it would be great to practice painting on glass. However, never tried it…. but I happen to have an antique bedroom set almost the same color so I painted the end tables first. That was three years ago and it is...

Loved the results
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I prepared a previously stained and sealed piece of mahogany for use as a test sample of an outdoor wooden bench I intend to paint with Valspar Cabinet & Furniture, Int/Ext Satin, Ultra White paint. The preparation included a sanding with 180 grit paper and a wipe down. The paint application was with a high quality 1 1/2 inch synthetic bristle brush. After stirring the paint the application took only a few minutes. The paint went on fairly smoo...

A Tale of Terrible Paint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh boy! I want to start out by saying , I'm a painter, not professionally. But, I have painted many houses, furniture, cabinets, etc. I know good and bad paint. Valspar is generally a pretty good paint... until now. Where do I start? I originally bought a gallon of this paint and painted a coffee table and several doors (after sanding). The color was just a little off of the original color paint of the doors, but still took 3 coats to paint ove...

Literally rather throw it out than try and use it.
General contractor here. Used max adhesion primer to start on a well sanded wood surface, then with this product Using a brush it was nice at first then 30 minutes in I notice major dripping/running forming everywhere. Thought maybe I mistakenly applied it to thick so I decide to test different application techniques and methods. At this point I got curious just to try things so I tried using a roller, no way to keep it thin enough not to run and still get even half coverage(u would have to do e...

This was a very expensive (time and money) mistake
I'm in the process of painting my kitchen cabinets so when I was shopping for paint, the person in the paint department suggested Valspar Cabinet & Furniture. She seemed to really know what she was talking about so I didn't hesitate at getting 3 gallons tinted. Fast forward a few days later and after feeling frustrated from the very beginning because the paint was too thin and needing to apply at least 4 coats, I developed a very itchy rash on my hands. I didn't wear gloves while painting, I...

Leaves a chaulky finish
I sanded my cabinets, primed, then applied this paint. I applied two coats and it has been drying for 5 days now. As of this morning it is still chaulky when I touch it. Literally if I run my finger down my cabinet door, there is a chaulky line left. Why is this happening? I shouldn't need to add another topcoat. If this doesn't cure like it's supposed to, this will be such a waste of my time and money...not to mention my cabinet are ruined.

Pleasantly surprised
I bought this paint with some hesitation after reading the negative reviews but my client requested a specific Valspar color and I could not match that color with any of my other furniture paints of choice, i.e. Amy Howard and Dixie Belle. I was concerned about the reviews indicating the paint remained tacky after 24 hours. I painted a sample board and left to dry. I found it completely dry in less than an hour, even though the dry time indicated on the can says 4 hours. I will say that, in ...

Worst painting experience ever!
I make my living as a Handyman in Phoenix, Arizona. Time is money and labor is King so, I try to buy the best products available for the money. My client wanted me to paint her laundry room cabinets. I checked Lowe’s and the other big box store. The paint guy at Lowe’s said the Valspar was made just for cabinets and should work well. Before making a choice, I checked the manufacturer’s sites and watched a couple of YouTube videos. The other store’s product was 30% more and looked like a lot more...
We apologize for the concerns you have had while using our Valspar product. Application over vinyl can cause adhesion concerns. We would recommend li...
