The Variegated Ginger or Alpinia Zerumbet as it is also known, is a tender herbaceous perennial in the Ginger family (Zingiberaceae) grown throughout the world for its attractive flowers and foliage. This plant native to open woodlands of tropical eastern Asia is frequently used as an annual foliage plant in colder climates and widely used as a tough landscape plant in mild climates. The Gingers dark green and yellow lance-shaped leaves grow up to 2 ft. L at intervals along the stems. The Ginger enjoys moderate watering and shady areas away from direct sunlight.
