Good for the price, but...
Pro: This is good wood for a beginner making my first project. It is very inexpensive. I can make a chair with this wood and spend about $9. Con: It was *very* hard to find even somewhat straight boards. I really had to search to the point where I had 20-30 boards at my feet going through the rack. And still, I wasn't able to find any that were totally 100% straight. I took the best I could find and the chair is going to have some distortion. I would recommend this if you want something c...
As Expected
I just bought 4 of these at the store to help finish a basement bedroom. They weren't bundled together, they weren't wet, they look great and did the job I needed them to do. Of course 2x2's aren't actually a full 2 inches, they never are. 2X4's aren't actually 2 inches by 4 inches either. I guess some people in the other reviews had a bad experience, but for me there were no problems at all.
Actual size incorrect
The actual size of this product is not 1.5-in. x 1.5-in. It is at least 1/8- in. smaller all around.
Wood supporting a Toilet Seat game
I used this particular lumber to hold the Lowe's blue bucket and other materials to make a fake toilet that will be used as a game for our local Teen Center in Howell. This wood was easy to cut and it was strong enough to allow me to create a new and fun game for the kids. I have used this material for other projects, I love how easy it is to use especially when I am not known for my construction abilities!
good price -SOAKING WET
30 years ago I was in construction bought pressure treated wood regularly. Never have seen wood so wet! It was literally soaking wet - luckily i used some quickly and nailed it straight, but the lumber I didn't use dried and looking like a pretzel. love Lowes - hate that particular product.
Preformed twisting C
If you want wavy walls, this is for you. They come bundled in 4 packs, now I know why. Without the straps, they return to their C shape, some curve as much as 4 inches along 8 feet. This ignores the ones that twist 45 degrees end to end. Most split when a screw is put in them, and many have knots that go more than half way through the board, not exactly helping strength. A large number were coated in sap, so everything sticks to them.
Not 2x2
I was looking for actual 2 inch x 2 inch 'strips' and what I received was 1.5x1.5. Hardly the same thing. Most pieces there were warped, split, horrible shape.
Good quality, Good price
Used these to build a kitchen cart as a prototype for the vanity I planned. I would only buy these in the store since you have to make sure they are straight, but it was easy to find the good ones. For the kitchen cart I used these as the legs by themselves. For the vanity I attached these to 2x4's to form an "L" shape to give the appearance of a thicker leg without having to use a 4x4 and then notch out the shelves. (Noticed when making the kitchen cart that I am not proficient at notching.) Ho...
pretty art sticks
These "Premium" 2"x2" x 8' boards were twisted, wraped and cracked and an 8d nail could not be driven without the wood splitting. ...but they make wonderful abstact art just before the fireplace got them!
