Snow Queen Oakleaf Hydrangea is a shrub that is ideal for a partial shade to full sun area, and is easily grown in well-drained soil that is organically rich. Mulching around the base of the plant is advised to retain moisture. Snow Queen has a rounded, upright growth habit and produces 4 to 12 inches long conical clusters of flowers beginning in late spring. These flowers are mostly sterile, and bloom through the summer and turn from a creamy white to a pinkish purple as they age. The leaves turn a bronze, maroon, or purple when autumn appears. The bark of the Snow Queen peels as the winter approaches providing a unique winter interest in the landscape. Hardy in USDA zones 5 to 9.
