high failure rate
Mechanism fails from regular use. I'm a DIY Landlord and have many of these deadbolts. Over 50% failure rate after just a few years. I can hear the lock accept the correct code, but the deadbolt does not move (sounds like the mechanism slips) and the thumbturn just spins. Schlage offers a lifetime mechanical and finish warranty, and will send you a replacement (after a week and a couple follow-ups), but doesn't not cover installation or re-key, which can be expensive or takes up precious time. Great lock but not perfect.
Repeat purchaser of this product - like it because it's not automatic as our old home doors aren't perfectly aligned. But the gears wear out or get misaligned somehow so we've had to replace a couple of them after some 5 years or so. Not happy about that but haven't found another lock quite like it and the cost isn't excessive.

Broke after 3 months
Like many reviewers I had the same issue. It worked for 3 months then stopped working. The outside panel doesn't work. Luckily, we found the defect when the door was unlocked. Otherwise, we would be locked out.

the best basic digital lock!
Dear Schlage, I have had this lock since January 2020 and its been wonderful to use. No more keys to lock the door and programming the digital code is easy. The jncluded battery has not ran out and has not been changed after 2yrs. This lock looks nice and works well. I wished it could be wifi but its fine the way it is. Less things to worry about and I am recommending kn to my parents as they are buykng a brand new door. I wouldnt change a thing. Perfect!
