Rubber-Cal’s Neoprene rubber is a tough synthetic elastomer that is ideal for industrial applications. Neoprene rubber, also called by its chemical name chloroprene, was developed by DuPont in the 1930s to meet the demand for a synthetic rubber with chemical resistance. While other rubber materials may degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, this industrial neoprene is designed to endure. Our neoprene sheet is actually a compound, made with a 10% neoprene rubber base and a blend of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and chloroprene rubber (CR) to give it the strength of both synthetic elastomers. This mix of sheet rubber materials gives the neoprene rubber moderate resistance to oils, chemicals, and many damaging effects of weather. The result is a smooth and flexible rubber sheet that has excellent abrasion resistance and works great in high-stress industrial applications.Rubber-Cal’s neoprene sheet is favored for its diverse range of resistance. The unique mix of SBR and rubber chloroprene that makes up Rubber-Cal’s neoprene material gives it moderate resistance to many substances that can easily degrade other rubber materials. The thick neoprene holds up much longer than alternatives, even against acetic acids, petroleum-based solvents, and certain oils and chemicals. This sheet neoprene is also highly valued in outdoor applications, as it can withstand UV rays, ozone, and damaging weather effects. Though other types of synthetic rubber may have stronger resistance to some of these conditions, no other material offers the diverse cumulation of resistance that rubber neoprene does. This flexible neoprene is backed with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) to skip costly installation and instead turn it into an easy DIY project. Our adhesive-backed rubber sheet is versatile enough for indoor and outdoor applications alike and offers excellent all-around resistance.
