Not Type S Mortar - mislabeled by Lowe’s
I picked this up based on Lowe’s website calling this Type S mortar. Luckily I read the packaging before I used it to find out that it is not Type S, so would have quickly failed in my application. I’m sure this is fine for it’s intended purpose, but Lowe’s needs to promptly correct the title on their website before anyone else orders this. I returned and picked up actual Type S.
Pretty good
I've used this for a few stone veneer projects. Best part it is available at a local Lowes. Only downside is when you use it in a grout bag to fill the gaps, it has occasional large stones that clog the tip. It would be nice if when they screened the materials going in they could filter out anything bigger than a 1/8".
Not good for manufactured stone veneer
I was finishing my project installing Eldorado stone panels using Spec Mix mortar and was a little short of it so I decided to get the QUIKRETE brand mortar from my local Lowe's instead of driving 35 miles to the specialty store. Big mistake! There is no comparison. QUIKRETE hardens too fast, contains too much sand, won't stick to the wall. Had to dump it and get Spec Mix to finish the job.
Works well with real stone.
I have been using the Veneer Stone Mortar for a couple of years to attach real stone to concrete block foundation walls in stone-facing and I find the Mortar works well, I am sometimes surprised at the holding power of the mortar with some of the heavy stone that I use, after prep work, I spread some on the wall and some on the mostly flat stone, press the stone to wall give it several taps and it sticks. I then fill the gaps between the stones with the mortar. With wide mortar joints I sometime...

Did not work for me
This product did not work, as I tried setting veneer brick they would not stick kept falling off I took back to Lowe’s it seems like there was too much sand in the product
Great product
As a contractor, I have used many different blends to adhere stone to walls. This product has everything necessary to attach stones quickly without the sag that often happens with other blends. This is my bag of choice due to the easy availability from Lowes as well as the quality of the product.

Quikrete Veneer Stone Mortar
I bought 3 80 pound bags of Quikrete Veneer Stone Mortar to use to apply veneer stone to a wall on the side of a workshop I built beside my house. The product is inexpensive and works as advertised.

Veneer Stone for the kitchen bar
I would highly recommend this product. There is definitely a knack for installing stone veneer. This works well when you follow the quikrete guidelines. You use for both the scratch coat and the mortar. I am not a professional, but I have used this product multiple times for stone veneer projects around my house.

Product didn't work for cultured stone
I have used Quikrete products before and they were very good. First time I used this product. It was easy to work with however after waiting two days, I was able to remove the stones from cement backer board pretty easy. The cement was also crushable under my foot with ease. The product doesn't have the stickiness like thin-set or tile glue.
Needs a trowel or 2 of type ''S''
I use this product in the winter when the sand outside is frozen. It just needs a trowel or 2 of mortar added and it can be pumped threw a grout bag to install the joint between the stone veneer or help veneer the stone to the wall.
