Great for projects
I have bought these before when I made a table out of PVC that I could easily take apart when not in use. My latest purchase is for short legs on a stand for my sub-woofer for my computer. I was told by a Lowe's employee that most people that buy these are using them for a non-plumbing related project. There's nothing wrong with that! Competing stores don't even seem to stock this item. So, score one for Lowe's on that alone! I rated the value as average because the price seems to be within r...

Side Outlet Elbows
I have no qualms with the product itself. The problem I have is that you do not carry enough of these in stock. You should know that a recent Pinterest post showed how these were used in conjunction with the pipes and chicken wire to make fantastic "cages" for 4' x 4 ' raised garden beds to prevent small critters and deer from ravaging the vegetables and flowers. Since raised bed gardening has become a huge hit you will find many people looking for these Side Outlet Elbows. Order plenty to keep ...

Holds well
My husband used the elbow joints as well as the 1/2" PVC pipe to create a frame which he covered with Lowe's frost cloth to protect a large Sago Palm from freezing temperatures. The frame holds up to any wind and keeps the frost cloth from smashing the plant.

What I needed at the time...
Not sure why they asked me to review this, I buy these, not for any use in plumbing. I make pet cots for the local no-kill 501(c)3 shelters and I used these as corner/leg joints for the frame. Be great if lowes would give me a discount since I've both like 300 of these so far and they go to charity. Anyway, these with a 3/4 pvc piping work great in you're building a frame, but the length of the frame needs to be kept to 3.5 feet or less or it won't support the weight of a 50lb+ animal.

Worked as expected
Ordered this to be used for a roller skate trainer I built for my daughter. It fit with the pipe excellent and worked exactly as I expected

VERY Useful PVC FITTING
My wife loves these for building Chicken Runs out of PVC. My wish is that Lowes would have contractor packs or provide bulk discounts like they do for other plumbing fittings.
No, not for plumbing...put with PVC Fittings tho!
Yeah not a lot of use in plumbing I suppose but great for a whole host of other projects, many of which have already been noted in the existing reviews. I've got a new one (no this is not my idea! google!): a light-box for professional-looking photos with a more rigid structure than a cardboard box xP)! Could not find these at Home Depot (no love lost, HD!!) without without the threaded side elbow :(. Source: http://www.diyphotography.net/how-build-pvc-diy-photo-light-box/
Convient Planter watering system
I needed a method to water two portable planters that contain both perennials and annuals. I placed a ring of 3/4" PVC around the bottom of the pot with a 90-degree side outlet elbow at one corner. The PVC is perforated every two inches with 1/2" knotted, frayed nylon wicks extending toward the center. The assemble is pressure fitted without gluing. The upright filling tube can be capped or attached to a 2-liter soda bottle as a funnel or reservoir.

Square corners for projects
This item is hard to get, probably because plumbers don't have much use for it. But people use PVC pipe and parts for all sorts of things besides plumbing. We used it to build a frame for our blueberry netting. The square corner pieces made the project go together a whole lot easier. The PVC maker would do well to promote creative uses of its products outside of plumbing.
