The SmartCode 917 is a keyless entry electronic lever that allows you to program up to 30 user access codes that can be customized for family, friends, or guests. SmartCode 917 is easy to install, program and use, and operates on one 9 Volt battery. It also features SmartKey Security as the back-up keyway. This entry lever can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. The crisp, clean appearance of the Matte Black finish adds to the overall look of the product and brings a modern feel.

Battery cover weak

Bought and installed about a month ago. It works well and reliably. Battery cover has 2 tabs which broke pretty easily, so the cover is now held on by a lever over it. So, caution when removing the cover.

When installing this item there is a set screw that is used to secure the handle. The screw on the inside handle wouldn't work. It wouldn't tighten or loosen. They refused to do anything about it. I was told they don't carry or provide any replacement parts. They told me to return to where I purchased it. Pitiful customer service. As a result I am going also return the dead bolt that I purchased and purchase a entirely different brand.

Stopped working after 2 weeks. returning.

I was replacing a similar schlage smart lock that failed after 3 years. this one failed after 2 weeks. Schlage actually sent me a new Latch Bolt at no cost, so I put the old one back on, and it's working fine now. Great customer service Schlage!

For 2 years my wife wanted a keyless entry. I was concerned about the installation. However, this Kwikset unit was so easy to install. It works perfectly. The instructions were easy to follow. It was easy to rekey with my current keys. It looks much nicer than the old beat up door knob. My wife is so happy and that is what makes life good. If you ever thought of getting a keyless entry I would highly recommend.
