I bought my 35' blue Kobalt tape measure a couple months ago and my previous TM finally broke. I'm rebuilding my deck and I left this new Kobalt out in the rain a couple times. This last time, I had to measure out a plank and I noticed the tape pulled out pretty easy. Then I tried to retract it but I could only push the tape back in a couple feet. Apparently the internal retraction spring broke off. Now, I have 35' of tape layin across my deck.
Got the help I needed when I finally ask. Must of the time I don’t asked and spend more time looking. Go figure.
