Broke in the second hole
It broke in the second hole I tapped into aluminum, about 2 diameters deep, even though I was going incrementally and using lube. It might be fine for tapping thin material.
Poor fabrication
Hi everyone I had a same problem with this product The set screw on the tap holder shaft broke in pieces And also fabrication on the twist nuts is poor which I had to trim the plastic piece off with utility knife Only good things I can say about it are handle is light weight and grip on the handle is really good
Michael if I can help you please let me know Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
Broke before the first thread
I had just opened the packaging and was assembling the ends (the replaceable threading ends are inserted into the middle portion and held in place with a set screw) and the set screw broke into three pieces under mild torque(not enough to hold the tap in place). I was able to switch ends and use the other set screw to get the job done, but have purchased the K-brand's model 626 and will be returning this one.
Adam sorry to hear you had issues Lowes will take back the tool. Thanks Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com...
Excellent tool
In the short time that I've owned this tool it has served me well. From time to time, in the electrical trade, the threads of some work boxes are not factory cut or poorly cut. This tool rectifies that problem.
