This was a replacement for an earlier generation doorbell that was damaged. Installation was relatively easy since I had installed the original doorbell myself. While it was unfortunate that our first doorbell was damaged, the third generation doorbell is real improvement, both in terms of video quality, night vision, and sound.
Set up is super easy.
Came with instructions on how to set up and mount to the wall.
Ordered wrong item
Ordered the wrong one. Item is going to have to be returned. Ordered the correct one from the manufacturer. Nothing is wrong with this, just the wrong one.
Complicated and NOT user friendly!
The Google Nest battery doorbell looks great and has a clear video image. However, the maintenance issues are incredibly non-user friendly and counter-intuitive. First, if you change your wifi router, you have to disconnect the doorbell, return it to factory settings, and reinstall as-if-new (whereas the Google thermostat just has you re-enter the new wifi address). Then there is the process to recharge. Instead of a removable battery, you have to take the doorbell off its wall mount, and this ...

Does not work with Nest app - only Home
My original wired Gen 1 Nest Doorbell had been having issues for about a year, and finally quit. This is a definite upgrade - larger view of front door area, AND when the doorbell is pushed, it will announce by name anyone who is in your Familiar Faces.
