Compressor Failed at 3 Year Mark

This unit worked great until it didn't. It ran whisper quiet in the insulated attached garage for 3 years, then we hear a rattling like a marble in a spray paint can. The compressor is red hot to the touch. A bit of research and this turns out to be a common issue that isn't cost effective to fix. Many reasons to love my new GE

Bought the GE chest freezer to replace a GE same model freezer I bought over 12 years ago. Comparing the older model to the new one, I was so happy they added a handle, making for easier access. The light is a welcome addition and shines brightly. The baskets are a big upgrade allowing for storage of smaller items that often get lost at the bottom. Temperature-wise, set it and forget it. Easy to install GE Freezer

We've only had it for a week, but so far the 7.0 cu ft freezer is working great. It is much lighter in weight than our old freezer. It has wheels on one end which made installation easy. Most of our baskets from our old freezer fit in the new one.

Appears to be good freezer

Great size for a retired couple that has a big garden. We usually can put enough vegetables away for the season until next year. Also have room for a couple months of meat. The lights on the front (power and high temperature) are reassuring. The LED light inside is helpful when digging around the bottom. Spacious and Quiet

Love my freezer, very spacious, easy to see what’s in there. Had a stand-up before and always moving things around to see what I had. Chest freezer easier to arrange. Very quiet.

Compression failure

Bought in 2023. Compression (R-600a) failed in March 2026. Technician repaired and it failed again on July 30, 2026. Lost everything in my freezer. Ended buying another brand.

Excellent freezer.

I run the freezer on as warm temp. as possible and it is still below 0 degrees. I did purchase 2 additional baskets for upper and lower areas. For me it is the best way to make full use of a chest freezer. That gives me 3 layers to store items. I have baskets I put on the bottom also. This also makes it quick to empty to defrost and get the frozen items back in freezer quickly. It makes finding something quick and more likely to use the food in a more timely manner. It runs quiet.
