DEWALT 120-Volt 3 -Amp Variable Speed 5-in Random orbital Sander with Dust Management

Power issue

Purchased a couple of years ago. Only done 3 sanding projects on toy boxes originally made for grandchildren and were stained in a golden oak finish. Today darker is better so I stripped down and stained darker. In the latest project after sanding for 15-30 minutes the power becomes erratic never totally stopping. After giving it a rest I can resume sanding but with similar results. I took off the top cover and could find no loose connections. Your thoughts? I like the sander but am close to try...

My go-to for home projects and wood working.

I bought this orbital sander when my other one from a different brand wasn't holding up anymore. I'm hesitant when it comes to switching brands but I have owned DeWalt tools for so many other things including their impact guns, drill drivers, and brad nailer. So I figured, DeWalt hasn't let me down so far, let's go for it. Between home DIY and my professional woodworking, I love this sander for its lightness and consistent power output.

Small but mighty

I purchased this sander 2 weeks ago, what a gem, I have had a blast working this product. I sand for hours at a time, this sander rocks, I go through 8-10 60 grit removing heave pine stock...It's a breeze with this little unit. I'm going to buy a few more and give them to my wood working buddies to try, I love this sander so much..Thank You DeWalt for a simple workhorse.

Decent

Decent for home use but is it to much to ask to upgrade the hook pad and make it easier to get replacement parts? I have the DWE6421 and the pad wore out pretty quick.

Workhorse in my shop

I have used this sander for 3 years now, and it’s a workhorse. The only thing I had to do is to replace the pad, which was inexpensive and simple to do. It’s one of the most used tools in my shop. Great product.

Dust collection is non-existent.

Bought this a few days ago and very disappointed. Nowhere near as stable and as smooth as the same electric sander Dewalt made 12 years ago that still outperforms this new one. The dust collection is nearly non-existent as 90% of the dust is left outside the bag. There’s no comparison when comparing it against the 13-year old model side-by-side. I thought the dust collection was a cordless model issue which I had tried first and subsequently returned for the corded model but now seeing that they...

Good for the large jobs.

We just had the finished removed from our log sided home. As part of refinishing the siding we are sanding the whole house. I bought my third DeWalt sander, so additional family members could sand at the same time. Bought the same sander because of the experience with my other two Dewalt sanders. They just work!

Best orbital sander!

I've had my orbital sander for 13 years! I just had to replace the pad for the first time. I've tried other orbital sanders but nothing compares to the "Beast" (my own nickname for my sander" that DeWalt makes. I've used my sander for all kinds of woodworking and it never disappoints! I would recommend this sander to everyone looking for an orbital.
