What Customers Are Saying

The cedar boards have a mixed quality. Many customers found the wood to have a pleasant aroma and color, and the tongue-and-groove construction allowed for a tight fit. However, some boards had issues like damaged or misaligned joints, warping, and other defects. Customers may need to carefully inspect the boards and sort through them to find the best pieces, as the quality appears to be inconsistent.

Shop carefully

Firstly, the boards are not 7/8 thick but approx 5/8 inch. Visited my local store and out of 34 boards in stock, only 10 were usable due to damage, knotholes that had damaged tongue or splits in groove. At $3.75 per linear foot, what a waste and could have been avoided if better packed/handled. The good: lightweight, generally straight. Application: replace existing rough side cedar window shutters for house painting.

Cedar Closet Success

Would Recommend

Bought 60 then added another 20 for a closet 5 ft by 13 ft. Product was good to work with. A little lighter than expected - not a bad thing. Went together well. Some boards were a bit bowed but they still went together with a little TLC (aka rubber mallet). I'd buy them again for another project.

Good quality tongue & groove Cedar boards

Would Recommend

We bought this board because it was tongue and groove which we wanted so we could build a pretty much leak proof "house" to go around a piece of outdoor equipment that we didn't want exposed to the weather so much. The pieces fit together well so that means they were milled correctly. The Cedar smell, which I always found overwhelming in things like clothes storage boxes, is much lighter and actually rather nice.

Couldn't use the boards

We were not careful enough in selecting the boards. Actually we ordered them on line and picked them up. They were warped and we couldn't use them. If they had been straight boards they would have been nice. Be very careful in selecting.

Lowes in New Bern NC As usual boards are poor qual

Would Not Recommend

Went to get some of these boards today, finally gave up.. Almost every one had a whole where there used to be a knot, ends split etc.. Lowes consistently has the poorest quality boards, crooked, warped, broken, split etc etc. No one there seems to care..
