I prefer the old type transmission, using a brake/clutch pedal to control the speed, but I'm sure that some people like the new accelerator-type drive system. I think the issue for me is, after so many years of using the old type, the new type is completely opposite and it's hard to switch, when I use one older-style mower at one property and this new style, at another. I find the seat on this one doesn't come forward as much as on the old one. I know most people are taller than I, but it's n...
Broken down 3 times in 3 years
I've had the same experience as the review Justlocal on this site. I bought the T140 with the B&S 18.5 hp mower and for the first couple of years it ran fine. Precisely at the 2 year mark (end of the warranty) the motor crapped out and Lowe's was kind enough to repair/replace it (not sure which, they never said, just didn't charge me). Less than a year later, would not start again and took it to a local small engine mechanic - the camshaft gear/compression release lever had broken off (again)...
Great Craftsman Lawn tractor!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my craftsman lawn tractor. The lawn tractor had great packaging and was easy to unravel. The operators manual was easy to read and understand. The operators manual is detailed in all the information you need to know about your lawn tractor. The manual has information on safety operations practices, assembly, operation, service and maintenance, troubleshooting, and all about parts and warranty. The manual answers all my questio...

Amazing Machine!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all I must say that I’ve never had a riding lawn mower in the past. I’ve always cut me online but with a self-propelled push mower. This is a huge luxury that everyone should have. The red color of this Craftsman T140 matches so nicely with my red Ducati. since it’s such a beautiful machine, I’ve washed it waxed it and detailed it prior to the first use. It really does look that good. The first start up a crank right over as the mach...

Big box store riding mowers live up to cheapness.
First, it a a Black & Decker complete with bad quality reputation; and the features and benefits are misleading and apt to damage the unit: such as that it runs on even terrain when it no more than matches the operating performance of a push mower. Cut height is barely adjustable and no max height is given, which means a jammed blade is not unlikely and broken belt etc, Like earlier days of cheap, tractor-ized, rear-engine riding mowers, mfrs who did not understand riding mowers figured you co...

Poorly Built
Got 3 years out of this before compression release on camshaft failed. Had issues right away but with this latest failure its not worth repairing. It is cheaply made and not built to last. Lowes makes good profits on selling this cheap selling imposter craftsman. They keep renaming these mowers to fool people but still pieces of junk
Poor Blade engagement design
I would not recommend this mower. While it does cut fine when it works I have had to replace the blade engagement cable 4 times in less than 2 years of owning. the way the cable runs under the rear end and connects inside the spring on the tension pulley seems to be an issue. Each time the cable has snapped right at the base of the spring. This has happened when engaging as well as mid cut. Seems like a faulty design to me. It also has a pretty low top speed but I am a bit of a bigger guy s...

Delivery and First operation
The scheduled delivery from the local Lowes was not only on time it was early. Delivery team called to coordinate an early delivery without issue. Delivery team had the tractor properly secured in the delivery vehicle to prevent damage. I observed the delivery team removing the tractor from the delivery vehicle and they exercised extreme care throughout the process. I was totally impressed with the purchase and delivery process. Prior to starting any newly purchased tractor the purchaser shou...
Rollin on 46"
My landscaper increased his fees and I decided I could do it myself. I've never ridden ir cut grass before and was worried if I needed a riding mower for just over 1/2 acres but I'm 46 years old and I hate hot summers in the east. Living on a corner and always trying to keep up with my neighbors. (you know, the Jone's) I made the decision to step up. My T140 was delivered in 2 days but the grass flap was missing. Brian, from Lowes came out and put it on, filled my gas tank and gave me about...
Clutch pedal broken immediately
The pedal used to accelerate or decelerate the speed of the rider mower broke off immediately. It's a design flaw with a poor Weld. The arm of the foot pedal is about 7 or 8" long and attaches to a horizontal Bar under the seat which is about 1" thick, but attaches with a quarter inch Weld. So it's a weak link. They should have put a flange of some sort to attach to this horizontal bar under the seat and attach it with at a minimum a Cotter pin but preferably with machine screws. Now I have to j...
