What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the powerful suction and versatile blower function for handling wet and dry debris effectively, with many appreciating the 16-gallon capacity and convenient attachment storage. However, a substantial group reports serious motor failures, burning electrical smells, sputtering, and smoke within months of use. Many express disappointment that current models lack the durability of older versions, with several noting quality has declined significantly. Despite strong performance when functioning, reliability concerns and difficulty finding replacement parts deter many from recommending it.
Customer review summary generated by AI, including incentivized reviews.Terrible, not what I expect from Caftsman products
Bought this thing a couple of years ago, thinking it would be versatile with the "blower" feature. I don't use it often and never even used it as a blower. Went to use it yesterday and the motor started sparking and died. My last Craftsman vacuum lasted me 15 years before it gave up... Now while trying to find parts for it I find out its a terrible product.. this thing is disappointing and not what I expect from Craftsman.

Wasted money
Bought it new couple years ago, maybe used it a dozen times over the years, and now it’s just suddenly dead and throwing sparks everywhere like the other reviews. Bought craftsman thinking it was a better investment.

This vacuum really sucks
I have had the 16 gal vacuum for just over 3 years. And used it a few times within those years. Not abusing or over doing it. It started to grind and make sparks with smoke come out of it. I spent a decent amount of money for this product for it to go out on me. I have seen and read the other reviews on here and it seems that I’m not the only one having a problem with the vacuum. I would like a new vacuum or help in fixing the problem with the motor in this vacuum. Disappointed in Craftsman for ...

wasted money
Complete junk. Had maybe a year and suddenly the motor is struggling to work. electrical burning smell and the sound is definitely going to start a fire if used. made sure after each use the filter wasn't blocked to cause undo stress to the motor. Even kept it indoors to store in my shop.
Less than 3 years old, no warranty & no parts!
Great unit, love the feature that allows the power head to be removed and used as a leaf blower. Until the power switch failed. I failed to retain my receipt. So although I purchased it in January of 2021 with a 3 year warranty, it's not covered. That part is my fault. However, I now find the switch to be a "non-serviceable" part. The entire power head must be purchased! I have a Craftsman 16 gallon wet/dry vacuum that I purchased in the late 70s. It has had heavy use, it has gotten noisy in the...

Junk
Bought this shopvac 3 years ago. It smelled hot the very first time I turned it on. I thought maybe it was just a new smell and would go away. I used it a couple of times put it in storage, we were moving, and today I moved everything out of storage. I used the vacuum to clean the storage unit and the smell got worse and the vac started running slower. I shut it off afraid of a fire. Most of my tools are craftsman but I think that's going to change.

Best shop vac still sucking after 1000s of hours.
I am blown away at all of the negative reviews for this vacuum. I have had mine for about 5 years now and I beat the s$#t out of it every single day really it runs none stop the whole day 5 to 6 days a week. I'm a wood turner with a small shop so I don't have room for a big shop vac system so I got this vacuum in the fall of 19 and it still works and sucks so good that it's irritating every time it sucks something up that I wasn't even close to. I only have I bad thing to say and it's half on me...

I cannot insert the casters into the caster footing. I am 78 and maybe not strong enough. Has anyone used a tool to get them inserted?
