Damaged Stringer

Be sure to inspect the stringers before you leave the store. One of mine had a split in the wood and had to make another trip to exchange it.

Product was OK, delivery was not

This was now the second time the Lowes delivery person piled the product at the base of our garage door. There was ample room between the garage doors, but more so to the left of our garage doors. Had I not been watching for the delivery, we could’ve run over the product with our car. I encourage Lowes management to invest in some training for the drivers so they know to use common sense when placing deliveries on someone’s property.

Rise is 6.25”, not 6.75”

I bought multiple stringers and they all seem to be cut the same BUT the rise is 6.25”, not 6.75”, as stated in the description. I spent a lot of time planning and now all my riser boards are 0.5” too high. Very frustrating.

5 run steps

I picked up 4 (5) step runners by curbside...at 9pm. it was dark...I was tired. So, when I got up and going the next day I found out fast that you must look at everything at this place before you leave with it. Out of the 4 runners, 2 were cut exact, one was to short on 3 steps..and one was to high on 2 steps. pitiful. I had to trim and shim but got them Plumb and installed. had this been a job for someone else....another trip back to town.

I bought the 5 steep but they gave me the 3 steep and told me that was the 5 steep, when it was put on the steeps were so steep that you could not use them, I went to menards and they gave me the right steeps. I am VERY upset with lowes about this. I could not bring them back because they were already used. Lowes needs to get workers that know the difference between 3 and 5.

Quick easy application

The stringer worded perfect for my quick application. I did have to cut one step off to make the two step that I wanted. I would like if they offered a two step version as well. But, it was square and worked great for my application.

Not as Advertised. Beware possible code issues.

Purchased 3 online for deliverey. Once I looked at them I saw issues. First off they were all different. Total height (rise) was only 25 1/4", not the advertised 26" . Steps 2, 3, and 4 are not 6 3/4 they are only approx. 6 1/2" (6 3/8 to 6 1/2). code states steps must be the same height. Not happy!

Inaccurate rise measurements

These are advertised as 6 3/4 rise, I bought 5 of these and not a single step was 6 3/4 rise, they were all 6 1/2 rise. So this put 1 1/12 too high on the bottom step from the ground. So to meet code I had to grade the dirt at the bottom of the step.

Inpressive!

I recently used the 5-Step Stair Stringer for rebuilding my deck stairs and was honestly impressed with how much time it saved. The cuts were clean and consistent, which made installation much easier compared to cutting stringers from scratch. The pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine feels sturdy and solid once installed.
