Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The reviews for the cedar boards are mixed. Some customers reported good quality and straight boards, while others found the boards to be warped, cracked, or of poor quality. Many customers noted they had to sort through a large number of boards to find the ones they needed, as the bad pieces were often placed at the front. The boards were described as suitable for a variety of projects, and the cost was generally considered reasonable. The quality can be variable, and customers may need to sort through multiple boards to find the ones that meet their needs.

Spring is here and an old man’s fancy turns to... beekeeping. Being retired and with a fairly well-supplied workshop I like to make some of my beekeeping equipment rather than buy someone else’s. I had it in mind to make slatted racks (beeks know what they are) for my six hives. Cypress was my initial choice, and I could order it through Lowe’s, but being impetuous I didn’t want to wait. Pine would work, but when I went to Lowe’s (Shelbyville, Kentucky) I found the cedar was less expensive than ...
Great For Fence Pickets
I use these boards to repair cedar fencing. My fence has pickets that rise in a curve from 3’ to 4’, so buying 6’ cedar pickets is a waste of money and material. I cut these 8’ pickets to size as needed, use a jigsaw to match the picket top design. These are thicker than many replacement fence pickets, and the quality is good, with one smooth side and two smooth edges, and a rough back side. Lowes description says these are S4S boards, but that is incorrect, since one side is rough, but that’s ...
Read the specifications before giving a low review
Anyone knocking this product for having one rough side, this is done intentionally so you have a choice of smooth or rough for a more rustic application. The specifications read S1S2E which means smooth 1 side 2 edges. Apparently not woodworkers.I use this wood for cabinet face frames and doors when I want a rustic appearance . Lowes always seems to have plenty in stock and yes you do have to sort through them because everyone puts the bad pieces in the front of the pile
Good wood for an outdoor project
I purchased several boards for use in making an outdoor potting bench. I did pick through a few boards to find ones with minimal knots and surface defects (some of the boards had indentations from the shipping straps). The boards were straight with no visible cupping or bowing, and should make a spiffy workbench top for repotting our plants.
cedar board
I bought these boards to replace slats on a bed. Cedar is aromatic, but does have a lot of knot holes. It is also only finished on 3 sides. Which was fine, put rough side down. Cost was a little higher than white pine, but a lot less than oak. Worked great for my project on bed as slats. Would have given it a 5 stars, but not finished on all4 sides.
If you like to work with cedar these are for you.
I've bought may of these cedar boards over the past few years. I did my bathroom ceiling, a base for my grill on my boat, and a stand for the cat to sit and sleep on. The stand stays out year round and still looks good. Good price and nice quality.
cedar board
I needed to build a gate for the yard and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. These cedar boards actually rang up at half the listed price. They aren't top quality boards, they are only sanded on one side, but for the price, I could make what I needed a lot cheaper than buying a gate. I'm going to buy more for other outdoor projects.
cedar 1x planks
Cedar is nice to work with because it is light, soft, cuts easily, is weather resistant, and it even smells nice. It will cost you though.
Not the best selection
It's difficult to find a cedar board without flaws but a good portion of what I saw was not usable for the project I was doing. I was able to get what I needed and clean them up with the planer and jointer though.
House Trim
Needed several rough cedar boards to replace house trim. Worked great, but select them carefully for your specific job, as there were several boards in the bin that were warped and/or cracked.
