How to Select the Right Size
When it comes to your porch or patio, it's important to select furniture that's proportional to the space and to your needs. Here are some questions to keep in mind.
- How big is the space?
- How big is your household?
- Do you plan on entertaining regularly? If so, for how many people?
- Are you using the sofa or sectional to lounge and relax or when seating multiple people?
Outdoor Sectionals
Sectionals can vary from 84 inches to 200 inches or more in length. A smaller sectional would be suitable for four people, where an extra-large sectional can seat up to ten people.
Outdoor Sofas
Sofas can vary from 77 inches for a three-seater to 126 inches that can accommodate up to eight people.
How to Measure
If you're replacing an existing sofa or sectional and you like the size, measure the current one and shop accordingly. If you're working with a blank space, we recommend measuring carefully and considering the other furniture that will be there. Do you want a conversation set and a dining set? If so, you'll need to take that into consideration.
Once you decide the approximate size that you'd like for your porch or patio, we recommend using painter's tape to create an outline. By doing this, you get a good visual representation of how much space your new sofa or sectional will need.
Sofas
When selecting furniture for your porch or patio, an outdoor sofa or outdoor couch is a great place to start. It's the anchor piece that can set the tone for the rest of the space. Choose coordinating loveseats, chairs and tables or select separate pieces from thousands of outdoor products that we carry.
Patio Sectionals
From sleek, modern lines to rounded, traditional curves, we have outdoor sectionals to suit every porch and patio. Lowe's has hundreds of selections to choose from, but we'll show you a few options you're sure to love.
Modular Furniture
If you're trying to style a medium or large-sized patio or deck and love versatility, consider modular furniture. Modular furniture comes in several pieces that allow you to create multiple seating arrangements. With the set that's featured, you can create a large sectional with a loveseat or two sofas with a loveseat and an ottoman.
If you're placing these poolside or on an extra-large deck, split the pieces up and create two or three separate seating areas. Look for modular sets that have rust-resistant frames and all-weather wicker that'll last for years to come.
Don't forget to select coordinating accessories, such as outdoor rugs, throw pillows, lanterns, patio umbrellas and more.
Daybeds
Daybeds are the ultimate relaxation spot. Lounge, read or nap on a chic daybed. Add one or a pair of daybeds poolside, on a screened-in porch or patio.
And daybeds are as stylish as they are functional. This daybed is hitting all the right notes with thick cream cushions, matte brass legs and a woven back. With two backrests and four full cushions, you can be a lady or lad of leisure.
Loveseats for Small Spaces
Do you live in a small apartment, townhome or bungalow? You might not have room for a large sofa or sectional, but there's still plenty of options for small porches and patios. Try using a loveseat and a coffee table or a couple of chairs with an end table in-between. In this image, the teak loveseat with light taupe cushions is a comfy conversation spot in a gated courtyard.
If you have a little more room, add a small bistro table and two chairs for dining. Many bistro sets can be folded up and stored when not in use.
Pet-Friendly Patio Furniture
Don't forget space for your furry little friends. With the set that's shown above, the ottomans are a great refuge from the sun for cats and small dogs. Even if you don't have pets, this set is ideal for small patios and decks -- and you can use the ottomans for extra storage.
