Tips for Using a Jigsaw
- Choose the correct jigsaw blade for the material you're cutting.
- Check the angle of the blade. For a standard cut, it should be at a 90-degree angle to the shoe or base of the saw.
- When cutting, you can clamp a straight board to the work piece to act as a fence. Run the shoe of the saw along the board to get a straight cut.
- If you're using the jigsaw on a delicate surface, you can cover the shoe with painters tape to protect the work piece.
- To make bevel cuts, adjust the shoe angle of the saw accordingly.
- For a cleaner cut, flip the work piece over and cut across the bottom. This technique reduces tear out on the side that will be visible.
Follow the saw manufacturer's instructions for use and safety. Wear eye protection and a respirator or safety mask when cutting with a jigsaw. Make sure your blade is compatible with the saw and the material you're cutting. Unplug the tool or disconnect the battery before making any adjustments or changing the blade.
