It’s a common household problem. You walk in, drop your keys, kick off your shoes and place the mail and packages at the door. Eventually, you get a junky-looking entry. But with a few tools and products, you can transform your entryway into a chic and organized space in less than an hour.

Organize the Pantry

Your kitchen pantry is an area that can get messy quickly with day-to-day use. Pantry organization provides functional storage that makes it easy for the whole family to find what they need. We’ll show you how to turn a disheveled disaster into an organized space in no time. Here are instructions on how to organize a pantry.

Now it’s time to organize the pantry. Before putting items back in, check to see if anything is stale or expired and throw it away. If it’s unopened and still good, but something you know you’ll never use, create a donation pile and take these items to a food bank.

Store like-items (protein bars, applesauce, snack packs, etc.) in clear bins. Use rolling drawers to hold canned goods. Dry goods (trail mix, rice, pasta, etc.) can be transferred into glass jars. Print out the names of each item in a font that you like. Stick the paper inside the jar and trace the letters with a white chalk marker on the outside to easily identify each one. Don’t forget the inside of your pantry doors. Wire shelves can hold an array of spices, dressings and sauces. If you’re adding door shelving, ensure that the shelves inside the pantry are short enough that you can properly close the door. 

Tidy Up the Coat Closet

The coat closet can become a catchall for an assortment of household items. We’ll give you a few tips on how to organize your closet and clean up this space once and for all.

Remove everything from the closet, including the wire shelf. Freshen up the space by adding a coat of paint to the walls. Then assemble a closet kit. You can hang coats on racks, while shelves can hold baskets where you can put gloves, paper products and cleaning supplies. If you have two-hinged rather than bifold doors, take advantage of the additional storage space by using hooks inside one door for hats and purses and a multi-tool hanger inside the other for brooms and mops.
