How to Measure the Grill For a Cover
Whether you get a standard size grill cover or a custom one, making sure that it covers your appliance entirely is essential. Measuring your grill for a cover first can help you get the perfect fit.
Measure the Length and Breadth
Use the measuring tape and measure the grill from the left corner to the right. Repeat this on the sides as well. Make sure to cover the entire perimeter of the grill to get the most accurate measurement. If you decide to use a ruler, lay it across the width of the grill and measure from one side to the other.
Include any handles and side tables while measuring as well.
Measure the Height
Close the grill when you are measuring the height of the grill. Note the dimensions from the top to the ground level. You also need to measure the dimensions of protruding elements, such as chimneys, to get the perfect grill cover size.
Take into Account the Type of Grill
The type of grill you own determines the grill cover size. There are standard grill covers that fit most grills, but getting one that is specifically designed for your grill type ensures full coverage.
Outdoor Grill
The shape and accessories you get with your outdoor grill differ from person to person. Getting a customized grill cover will help you get an accurate size.
Charcoal Grill
If it is a round charcoal kettle grill, you will need to take the measurements of the diameter size and the height for the right grill cover size.
Other Considerations When Buying a Grill Cover
Crosschecking the grill cover’s size is step one, you also need to make sure you get the right material and additional features.
Special Features
A grill cover for an outdoor grill needs to be water resistant and UV protected to make sure it is durable and lasts long. The shape should also offer a secure fit for windy days.
Closure Type
The closure type of grill covers depends on your personal preference along with the weather. If your outdoor space gets a lot of strong winds, getting a zipper or a buckle might be beneficial. You could get a hook and loop or a drawstring closure if that is more convenient.
Tips To Select the Perfect Grill Cover
Prevent Mold
Standard grill covers do not touch the ground. This is to make sure that air circulation takes place, preventing water damage, mold, and mildew.
Go Larger
Ideally a bigger size grill cover is better to make sure it is completely covered.
Prevent Damage
Before you cover your grill, let it cool down completely to protect it from heat damage.
